The kids have a new daily contest - it's called "see who happens to find the egg(s)". They managed to do a good job raising their chickens, keeping them fed, watered, and even alive. They've been rewarded the last few weeks with a few of the chickens hitting chicken puberty and starting to lay eggs.
It's still enough of a novelty that each time they find one they come running through the house announcing it. They've stuck with it pretty well, we'll see if that lasts now that the cold weather is here. But it's been cool thus far watching them have fun with them and taking ownership of the work, and dad likes the fresh eggs.
